Our First Date

Today, 5 years ago, the man of my dreams and I had our first date! I remember being SO nervous, and spent FOREVER getting ready that day! I still remember what I wore, a blue turtleneck and a long polka dot skirt! I remember trying to think of what to say, what to do, and when we actually sat down to eat…it was like time stopped and we just clicked. Stephen has never been a man of many words, but he said he knew I was special when he could comfortably talk to me for 4 hours straight on our first date! This was the first date I went on and just KNEW it was going to go somewhere. I remember running back to my dorm room glowing and radiating of happiness! I was head over heels for him! Our love has continued to grow, and now 5 years later, we are still that in love and even more!
I love you Stephen, forever and always!♥

Here's some pictures of our first year of dating! :) Notice my long hair! (hahaha!)

19 Weeks: Pattern Mixing

Yay! I'm almost half way to meeting our baby boy! My due date got moved up 9 days, so now I'm due June 18! Hopefully it doesn't get changed again! (It's been changed 3 times!) I'm still fitting in all my regular clothes, PRAISE THE LORD! I'm trying to wear all my regular clothes now, because who knows how long it will take me to get back into them!

Today, I wore my navy skirt, navy & white striped shirt, with a chartreuse cardigan. I topped it off with a navy & white polka dot scarf! I'm not a huge pattern mixer, but I do like stripes/polka dots mixed!

Yesterday, I got to have a meeting with my doula! This was my outfit to that meeting! A jean skirt, mint & navy polka dot shirt, and a fan fringe necklace!

I feel like my belly is so big, but people still tell me I'm barely showing for how far a long I am…I guess that's a good thing??

Our Gender Reveal!!

The day is finally here!! Here's our reveal video and pictures! Enjoy!

 photo genderreveal1-4.jpg

IT'S A BOY!!! :)

 photo genderreveal6.jpg

I loved how my gender reveal box turned out! This was a totally easy and cheap way to announce to every one what our baby was!

 photo genderreveal8.jpg

Here's the inside! I taped streamers all around the top, and added blue balloons to fall out when we flipped the box over! It worked out perfectly!

 photo genderreveal9.jpg

Of course, I already went shopping for my little man and got him some cute clothes!

17 Weeks: Houndstooth

Hello, beautiful ladies! This week we went to our midwife, and heard our baby's heart beat again! It's the best sound I've ever heard! Also, this week I felt the baby move for the first time, and ever since then, I can feel the wiggle worm moving all over! Not going to lie, it's kind of weird, but amazing at the same time. If anyone doesn't believe in God, they need to get pregnant, it's amazing how God created my body to make another body inside of it! It truly is a miracle!

 photo photo4.jpg

Now for the outfit, I love this peter pan collar top! But, for some reason, it's so difficult to find things to go with it! I think it's because it's sleeveless, and I have to wear a crew-neck cardigan with it. But, searching in my closet today, I paired it with my houndstooth skirt and red cardigan! I like how it turned out!

Stay tuned for next week, we are hoping to find out what we're having at our ultrasound!! Pray baby cooperates! Can't wait to start buying things!

What do you think it is?? Boy or Girl???

Old Clothes, New Outfit

So, my all time favorite thing to do is find new outfits from my own closet. I haven't been shopping for regular clothes in about 3 months, which is a LONG time for me! I've only bought maternity clothes for the past couple of months, but I can't wear them yet. So, that has forced me to work with the clothes I already have.

Some things that help me make new outfits are:

1. Color cooridnate your closet.

2. Look on pinterest/blogs/instagram for new color/pattern inspirations.

3. Pull out pieces you haven't worn in a long time, and pair them with something different.

4. Add a different necklace, scarf, belt, or shoe with an outfit you've already worn.

5. Keep a photo library of what your wear daily, so you don't repeat outfits too often.

I've had this dress for over a year, I got it from Ann Taylor Outlet for less than $20, and I wore it a lot in the summer with turquoise jewelry. I haven't worn this dress since summer, so I decided to add a winter color, tights, and black necklace. Whole new outfit, with all old items I've had for years!

Creative & Curvy

This post is for all of the ladies who think being a certain size affects your ability to dress fashionably. I'm here to tell you, no matter what your body shape or size is, you can dress CUTE! I have a beautiful friend, Amanda, who is the PERFECT example of this! Amanda found Modern Modesty a while back and messaged me many times thanking me for all of the ideas she was getting from the group/blog. I have had many people complain that Modern Modesty isn't geared towards plus sized women, but Amanda is going to prove you all wrong today! :) I'm going to show you that any one, no matter what size can get outfit ideas from Modern Modesty.

This is one of my favorite outfits! I love cobalt, black, and white! As you can see Amanda (on the right) is clearly ROCKING the identical outfit as I wore. She took the idea, and made it her own! People ask Amanda where she gets her clothes, and I've seen her answer Lane Bryant a lot, so if you are plus sized, I'd be checking out Lane Bryant to get these fabulous pieces!

I love how Amanda creates her own outfits from the inspiration of colors and patterns she sees on Modern Modesty. Melissa, is one of my favorite contributors! She posts on a daily basis, and ALWAYS has FABULOUS outfits! I'm so glad Amanda chooses to use what already has in her closet and make great outfits instead of saying "I can't look as good as the skinny girls.." (Which I've heard SOOOOOO many times from curvy ladies) Dress for the body you have, not the body you want! Amanda ALWAYS dresses amazing for the body God gave her! Don't use your plus size as an excuse to not look and try your best! You just have to be more creative!

I'm just going to show you some of my favorite outfits Amanda has posted. She is such an inspiration, and I hope she helps some of you ladies you need a little boost of confidence to dress fabulously!

16 weeks: Maxi Skirt

I know everyone loves maxi skirts when they are pregnant, and honestly I know why! They are SO easy and comfortable. My Momma got me this skirt for Christmas from Motherhood, and it makes me look so pregnant! There is no hiding this belly in this skirt! I'm starting to get used to the fact that there is a real baby in there and it's going to keep getting bigger. :)

15 weeks: Baby, It's Cold Outside!

I know it's below zero in a lot of Northern states right now, but it's only in the 50's here in Southern Mississippi…For this Florida girl, that's COLD! :) So, this morning I broke out my tights, and this weekend I made some DELICIOUS soup! (recipe below)

I'm so glad I'm starting to have some more energy and motivation to "look cute" again. I was coasting through the first trimester with safe outfits I've already worn, now I have more energy to actually plan my outfits again. So hopefully, it stays that way! I bought lots of maternity dresses over Christmas break, I'm actually excited to get big enough to wear them, although, I know I will regret saying that when I'm actually big enough..lol

 photo cold.jpg

I love these chevron black tights, I think I found them brand new at Goodwill last year, haven't worn them yet! I've had this dress for years, I never really wear it, because it pooches in my stomach, but now I can fill that pooch up and it looks normal! :)

Now for my FAVORITE soup recipe for winter! My best friend's mom from Baton Rouge made this for me, and ever since then I was hooked!!

Crab & Corn Chowder

1 bunch of green onions (scallions)
1 lb. fully cooked imitation crab (I use chunk style)
Optional: Fully cooked mini cooked shrimp

1. Saute chopped scallions in the melted stick of butter over medium in a large pot for a couple of minutes.
2. Add the block of cream cheese, mix in until the cream cheese is melted and mixed in.
3. Add ALL canned soups, tomatoes, and corn, heat up for about 15 minutes over medium-low.
